How to get to Clermont-Ferrand

By plane:

Clermont-Ferrand International Airport (only 8 km far from downtown Clermont-Ferrand) provides direct international access to and from Amsterdam, Brussels, Geneva, Lisbon, Milan, and Porto. A shuttle bus (navette aéroport) runs between the airport and the city center. A taxi from the airport to the city center is approximately 15 euros. For further information visit the Clermont-Ferrand International Airport web site.

Another interesting possibility is to fly to Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport (formerly Lyon Satolas) and then travel by train. It takes about 3 hours to get to Clermont-Ferrand from Lyon by train.

By train:

Clermont-Ferrand is very much accessible by train. Clermont-Ferrand railway station provides direct access to and from Paris (Gare de Lyon railway station) every day approximately from 7:00 to 19:00 (the trip takes about 3h 30min). The train tickets are to be purchased in advance. Remember to stamp your ticket before boarding the train at the stamping machines located close to tracks. You can check the train timetables and book your tickets at the French National Railway Company (SNCF) web site.
